After moving to Gilbert, Arizona from Central Phoenix, I have started to discover a whole new world of hiking trails around the East Valley. My most recent discovery was the Hawes Trail System. Just a hop across the road from the Salt River, this trail system can be utilized by anyone - hikers, mountain bikers, kids and dogs. It's got a little something for all skill levels and interests.
My pup Cricket and I took the quick 2.7 mile loop and enjoyed the towering saguaros, red dirt and rocky overlooks the trail provided. We saw mountain bikers, hikers, families with young kiddos, elderly wanderers and so many dogs! If you're looking for a fun, after work or weekend adventure, the Hawes trail system has something for you!
Parking is located across the Bush Highway so be VERY careful when crossing to the trailhead.
