Phoenix is TOO HOT right now for this Pacific Northwest blooded woman. So it was necessary to escape the 115s and head to the 80s up north along the Mogollon Rim. Here's how my weekend went!
This is my camping set-up! Cricket even has her own cooling bed and tent for shade! And that's Froggy. He goes with us everywhere since she was just a puppy. And of course you can't forget the hammock!
So even with the tent I got a little freaked out by some strange noises and decided to sleep in the cab of the truck. Our air mattress didn't quite fit so I made a space pod for me and the pup. Quite cozy. The scary thing though - we ran into a BEAR about 300 yards from camp the next morning! Maybe that's what I heard rusting around in the woods the night before!
No trip to the Pine/Strawberry area is complete without a stop for coffee at Windmill Coffee at the Strawberry Inn! This is an iced strawberry mocha and after sleeping in the truck it was VERY much appreciated haha!
And another must-stop for lunch - The PIEbar! Empanada HEAVEN right here. And dog friendly. I had the Mountain Man (sausage, potato, gravy & cheese), the Mountain Baby (Mac n Cheese & bacon), a strawberry rhubarb and molten chocolate! And yes, I ate them all.
