UPDATE: Princess Adopted!

Wet Nose Wednesday Pet: Princess

UPDATE: Princess Adopted!

I wanted to take a moment to talk about a special dog that I haven't had the chance to meet yet. This is Princess. She was a late addition to the Spokane Humane Society's most recent batch of Pawsitive Dog Prison Training Program dogs and graduated a couple weeks after her fellow friends. A new program is set to begin next week, so Princess needs to find a home to get her out of the prison by Wednesday so she doesn't have to go to the shelter.

Princess had a rough start in life arriving at SHS pretty much feral. She remains in the Pawsitive Dog Prison Training Program at Airway Heights Corrections Center where her training has been focused on helping her gain confidence and trust. She has come a long way, but she is still very cautious, sound sensitive and easily startled. Her transition to life in a private home will be a difficult change for her.

It takes quite a bit of time for her to warm up to new people. She may run away or hide and should be allowed time and space to become acquainted. Over time, her acceptance of new people may come more quickly, but her forever home must understand that she will most likely remain hesitant around strangers.

The perfect home will be quiet and predictable, with gentle people who will give her the time and space she needs to continue to blossom at her own speed. A safely fenced yard is a must. Princess enjoys the company of other dogs but they should be confident and friendly with people, so she has a good example to show her that people are safe. Living with another spooky dog would be less than ideal for both dogs. Trainers from Diamonds in the Ruff will be happy to meet with the new owners for a free consult to help set Princess up for success.

Please email pia@spokanehumanesociety.org to get the application for Princess and, if approved, set up a meet and greet.

Princess’ adoption fee is $300
