Not many people love ice cream the way Don Kardong loves ice cream, which is why Bloomsday and Sweet Peaks Ice Cream have partnered to celebrate the Bloomsday Founder, Race Director and Ice Cream Aficionado (who will be retiring after this year's race) with his very own signature ice cream. Don's ice cream has been dubbed “Darkness and Chaos,” a huckleberry ice cream with a fudge swirl and chocolate chunks. It is now available to tickle your tastebuds at Sweet Peaks Ice Cream’s downtown Spokane location at 415 West Main Ave.
The name Darkness and Chaos is inspired by the Olympian's notorious quote, “Without ice cream there would be darkness and chaos."
For those who may not know, Mr. Kardong is a noted runner and author. He finished a close fourth in the marathon at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, just three seconds behind the bronze medal winner.
“We could not think of a better way to honor Don than with his very own ice cream,” said Bloomsday PR/Communications Director Emilie Laakso.
“There are few things he loves more, so it seemed like a great fit. Sweet Peaks has been amazing to work with these last few months in getting the flavor, name and design just right!”
Darkness and Chaos will be available at Sweet Peaks through the month of May at the Spokane store, as well as at the Bloomsday Trade Show on May 3rd & 4th.
