SJ's Weekend in Five Pictures

Photo One: You Deserve a Donut

One of my trainers at Titan Fitness competed this weekend in the Night of Champions at the Spokane Convention Center. Basically what that means is that he ate only steamed chicken and broccoli for the last couple months and slept at the gym. It means the man has dedication. And that he deserved the oversized maple bar we got for him to enjoy after he took fifth place in his division! Way to go Isaac! He's the guy in the middle. You're welcome, ladies.

Photo Two: I have a Soundbath addiction.

I guess there are worse things to be addicted to, and since I got sober the Dreamtime Sound Healing duo of Alesha and Seth Blackwolf have kept me on the straight and narrow. Their Crystal bowl sound baths help promote deep relaxation, relieve stress, and allow the mind and body to let go making room for healing and rest. Seth's drumming shakes you free from all the negative thoughts that have crept into your soul and Alesha's guided sleep meditation through yoga nidra leaves one feeling refreshed and oddly energized.

Long story short - we all deserve a little escape now and again. This is my therapy. And Saturday night was spent at the Spokane Yoga Shala getting my mind right.

Photo Three: Halloween weekend has changed a bit for me.

Two years ago the Saturday before Halloween meant heels that hurt, makeup that melted and a hangover that lasted well past Halloween week. It meant spending too much money on a non-existent costume that was supposed to make me look "sexy" and too much money on shots that were supposed to make me FEEL sexy.

What resulted was a far cry from those empty promises.

These days you can find me celebrating my favorite holiday snuggled in my apartment with my fur-babies. Comfies on, scary movies on Netflix and snacks in hand. This year we built our snack...and tore it down and ate it as quickly as it went up! After the photo-op of course.

I love this new life.

Happy Halloween!

Photo Four: You're never too old to play dress up.

When my friend Gary calls and says "Meet me on Sunday at Liberty Lake Clydesdales! Bring fun clothes..." I know I'm in for a great time. Gary is a photographer with an eye for fashion. And he loves allowing real girls like me to shine in front of his camera. So my friend Tawny and I grabbed her sister Tiahnna and the three of us spent Sunday afternoon playing with some Budweiser Clydesdales-in-training. We even got to rock some super cool Kime's Ranch gear and I got to wear my renaissance festival dress again!

Photo Five: STEAK.

I had never been to Churchill's Steakhouse for the infamous "Mis-Cut Steak Night." I had no idea what I was missing out on.

Let me back-track a second though. In order to dine on fine steak, one must get to said restaurant in the finest fashion. So we grabbed Lime Scooters (what were the chances one would be parked in front of my apartment) and scooted down the South Hill to Downtown. This was probably the most fun I've had in ages. I get why everyone looks like a complete goober riding them downtown. Those smiles are unmistakable.

Back to the steak. $21 for a mis-cut New York Strip steak. We went big. All the toppings (bacon, sauteed onions, crispy onions, peppercorn sauce). All the sides (stuffed baked potatoes the size of your head and Cougar Gold mac n cheese). And of course Creme Brulee for dessert.

The best part - Cricket got steak for dinner too! Holy happy dog!
