With the Great Romaine Scare of 2018 now safely in the past, I thought it would be a good idea to talk with an Arizona farmer about how safe how food supply is and to detail some of the steps they take to make sure of that. To clarify, the romaine lettuce that was in question came from California, not Yuma, but farmers everywhere all go to great lengths to ensure that our food supply is the safest and least expensive in the world. I spoke with John Boelts who farms 3,000 acres in Yuma County with his family and partners. He is also the 1st VP of the Arizona Farm Bureau and is extremely knowledgeable about farming and food safety practices. Here is the interview, aired on 6 iHeartMedia stations on Sunday Dec 9.
