We all know that a good education is important, and the more education you have the better chances you’ll have once you get into the job market. Now, it's probably not shocking to find out that some cities have a more educated population than others, although which cities they are may surprise you, or maybe not 

  • WalletHub just came out with their list of the Most Educated Cities in the U.S.
  • They looked at 150 of the largest metropolitan areas, judging them on 11 factors in areas of educational attainment and quality of education and attainment gap.
  • Those factors include share of adults 25 or older with a bachelor’s degree or higher, quality of public school system, quality of universities, gender education gap and more.
  • With that in mind, Ann Arbor, Michigan is the Most Educated City in America, with a score of 94.02.
  • It ranks number one for both education attainment and quality of education and attainment gap.

  1. Ann Arbor, MI
  2. San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara, CA
  3. Washington-Arlington-Alexandria, DC-VA-MD-WV
  4. San Francisco-Oakland-Hayward, CA
  5. Madison, WI
  6. Boston-Cambridge-Newton, MA-NH
  7. Durham-Chapel Hill, NC
  8. Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue, WA
  9. Austin-Round Rock, TX
  10. Provo-Orem, UT 
  • As for theleasteducated city in the U.S., that would be Visalia, California, which scores only a 9.93 and is in the bottom five for both education attainment and quality of education and attainment gap.
