One of Arizona's favorite Cardinals is getting in on another sport – basketball. Larry Fitzgerald, who recently delighted fans with his announcement that he would be on the field for the Cardinals in 2020, has bought "an undisclosed minority stake" in the Phoenix Sun.
Fitzgerald has had season tickets since 2005, a year after the Arizona Cardinals drafted him, according to NFL.com. He met Suns managing partner Robert Sarver that year, and the two have been friends since.
"I've learned a great deal from him," he told NFL.com. "We've gotten really close and our families have gotten really close, as well. I'm looking forward to working together in the future."
"Larry will serve as an advisor and resource to our business and basketball staff as well as Suns and Mercury players," Sarver told NFL.com about how Fitzgerald's role will evolve.
