Summer is the highest need for the food banks, with the kids out of school and lots of folks leaving town for vacations. So this weekend's Stamp Out Hunger food drive is huge for St Mary's food Bank! What started as a local food drive with carriers from a couple of stations using their own pickup trucks to collect food from people on their routes has now become the single largest one-day food drive in the world! Last year the total collected was 70 million pounds of food! Look for the donation bag in your mail, or use any bag you have handy and leave non-perishable food items wherever you pick up your mail.
Jerry Brown from St Mary's Food Bank joined Beth & Friends on the air to talk about the need and the best items to donate.
