Finding the perfect city to live in is one of the biggest decisions you can make. From proximity to music and entertainment venues, the best schools and hospitals, diversity in restaurants offering a wide array of cuisines or how safe a community feels, each city has a certain factor that makes its stand apart from the rest. Whatever the reason, some cities see a bigger boom of new residents looking for a new place to call home.

U.S. News & World Report compared 150 major U.S. cities to determine the 25 fastest-growing destinations in the country, and while a large portion of the list are cities in Florida, one locale in Arizona made the list.

Rounding out the list at No. 25, Phoenix saw a population increase of 2.83% from net migration between 2021 and 2022. Over 1.6 million people call this sunny city home.

These are the Top 10 booming cities in the country, according to the site:

  1. Fort Myers
  2. Killeen, Texas
  3. Port St. Lucie, Florida
  4. Daytona Beach, Florida
  5. Tallahassee, Florida
  6. Ocala, Florida
  7. Baton Rouge, Louisiana
  8. Reno, Nevada
  9. Orlando, Florida
  10. Sarasota, Florida

Here's how U.S. News & World Report determined its ranking of the fast-growing cities in America:

"When calculating the Best Places to Live, U.S. News factors in each city's growth due to net migration, which is part of the larger desirability score. Places seeing the most growth attract new residents for many reasons, including a hot job market, affordable housing, a desirable location or some other factor. For the 2024-2025 rankings, we used the U.S. Census Bureau's net migration data from 2021 to 2022, the most recent complete data set at the time of our calculations."
