Barguments - Oak on Camelback
This week Beth welcomed chef and owner of Oak on Camelback Robert Bogart.Chef Bogart’s love for cooking began by cooking wood-fired food while camping outside with his grandfather in Texas. He focuses on using seasonal, quality ingredients and techniques. Chef Bogart has cooked at the James Beard House in New York.
He served in the Marine Corps from 1995 to 1999, mostly stationed in Hawaii. Once he completed his service, he moved back to his hometown of Dallas and got a prep cook position at a high-end restaurant called the Mansion on Turtle Creek. It changed his life and sent him on the path to culinary school in Scottsdale.
Today, things are booming as Chef Bogart has launched his vision and labor of love, Oak on Camelback. He has revamped the menu to include a variety of globally inspired dishes, keeping some of the St. Francis menu favorites intact. The stunning custom wood burning oven remains as Oak on Camelback offers approachable fine dining set in a contemporary brick 1950’s Harold Ekman building. A large patio offers guests a place to unwind and enjoy Arizona’s beautiful weather.
Open for weekend brunch, weekday happy hour and dinner Tuesday-Saturday. Closed on Monday. Oak on Camelback is located on the southeast corner of Camelback and Central at 111 East Camelback Road, Phoenix, AZ 85012.
