Four Flyers Eat 66 Pounds of Oranges Instead of Paying Extra Luggage Fees

We’ve all done tricks to avoid baggage fees ... whether we wear layers on the plane or stuff more things into our carry-ons. But this story takes the cake – or, in this case, the orange.

Seems some passengers at an airport in China sat and ate 66 pounds of oranges in less than half an hour after they were told that bringing the fruit onboard would mean a $46 baggage fee. Yep, the four travelers ate the oranges rather than pay the fee … or throw them away. Hey, they say it’s not a bad idea to up the vitamin C before a flight.

"We never want to have any oranges again," one of them was quoted as saying, adding that the choice to binge eat the citrus left them with ulcers in their mouths.
