Protest Over Police-Teen Incident Turns Violent

Video surfaced of an off-duty police officer firing his gun during a confrontation with a group of teenagers. It shows an off-duty LAPD officer arguing with a pack of teens walking across his lawn. Police say a 13-year-old allegedly threatened to shoot the off-duty officer, who then grabbed the boy's sweatshirt. After a scuffle and more teens crowding around the officer then pulls what appears to be a gun from the waistband of his jeans. A single gunshot is heard a few seconds later. No one was hurt.

About 300 people marched peacefully overnight starting in the neighborhood where the shooting happened then moved closer to Disneyland. That's when the violence erupted leading to 24 protesters being arrested.

Rocks and bottles were being thrown at police during the gathering. The protested also threw rocks at the home of the LAPD officer, spray-painted his garage and scratched a pickup truck in the driveway. Someone also mistakenly tagged an "innocent" home in the neighborhood.

The Anaheim and Los Angeles Police departments are investigating the shooting.
