SJ's Weekend in Five Photos

Photo One: Locust Grove.

A quick trip home to where I grew up led my pup and I to Locust Grove on Lake Roosevelt in Kettle Falls, WA. This little spot on the lake is also home to what we used to call the "Super Bowl." The perfect little swimming hole that was undetectable when the water was high but well-known to the locals. And while it was a tad bit cold for a swim, we wandered the old homesteads and picked through rocks under the snow that had accumulated on the beach during our first stop of the day.

Photo Two: Mill Creek.

This little creek is what creates Douglas Falls. The pup and I tested our luck on the snowy trail without Yaktrax to get to the bridge that leads you over the creek to the lower part of the falls.

Photo Four: Fog.

We drove North in hopes of finding the sun. Instead, we found ominous clouds and fog. Which was okay considering it makes for some great photos.

Photo Five: We fell in.

The things I do for the perfect photo. I fell in, she came in after me. We stayed and played awhile. Believe it or not, the water rushing down Mill Creek was much warmer than the air. I drove home barefoot.

Perfect day.
