GET OUTSIDE: Wander of the Week

Looking for a bit of fresh air or just some peace and quiet? Hawk Creek may be just what your soul is searching for. Just an hour drive from Spokane, one can find solitude, wildlife, turquoise waters and a secret waterfall guaranteed to please!

Best time to go: Late fall to early spring when the water levels are still low and beaches are ABUNDANT! Oh, and the people - non-existent aside from a scattered fishing boat here and there. Keep an eye on the beach for old broken pottery, arrowheads and reminders of the history of Lake Roosevelt.

Keep an eye out for wildlife too! We saw plenty of deer, fresh bear tracks and an abundance of eagles!

DIRECTIONS: Take I-90 westbound to exit number 277 towards FAIRCHILD AFB/DAVENPORT/SPOKANE AIRPORT. Merge onto HWY 2 towards Davenport, then take HWY 25. Drive 18-1/4 miles and turn right on Miles-Creston Road toward Seven Bays . Go 11-1/2 miles and turn left on gravel road toward Hawk Creek Campground. Drive another mile, passing campground, to primitive boat launch parking area.
