GET OUTSIDE: Pend Oreille County

I just LOVE discovering new places that are so close to home that fit my adventure standards!

IN SEARCH OF: Peace. Quiet. Wildlife. Water. Trails. Wildflowers.

DO NOT APPLY: Loud boats. Loud people. Traffic. Parties. Litter.

FOUND: Bead Lake. No Name Lake. Pend Oreille County.

We started our day at Bead Lake and were told by the host at the boat dock that we were the only ones to use the launch that day. Sure enough, aside from some locals in their fishing boats, my Dad and I were the only ones exploring the turquoise blue waters of this peaceful lake. We kayaked to a cute little camp created by the local Boy Scouts and met my Mom and my pup, Cricket who had taken the lush forest trail to get there. After a quick rendezvous we circled the first leg of the lake and met back at the launch for our next stop.

No Name Lake is just a few minutes away and MUCH smaller than Bead. The campground has been closed but you can park and walk in. We hiked down to the lake then meandered out past the trail into the forest in search of Morels (no luck, but it was fun searching).

After finding our way back to the main road it was back in the car to have lunch overlooking the Pend Oreille River and the Albeni Falls Dam.

Seriously couldn't have asked for a more perfect day with my family to wind down the weekend!
