Is there one room in your home that is always a mess?

You’re not alone. A new survey found that 80% of respondents said they have at least one “cleaning black hole” in their home -- an area or room that’s always unorganized and in need of cleaning.

Most commonly messy areas include closets, garages, and basements.

88 percent also have at least one “junk drawer”

38 percent report having some kind of yet-to-be-sorted “paper pile” and 24 percent have a “junk bowl” or dish for extra sets of keys and other clutter.

When asked to identify the reasons that these cleaning black holes exist, 34 percent of respondents say they feel too overwhelmed or distracted to tackle them. In fact, three out of four people (75%) have organized a junk drawer or other messy part of their home only to realize that all they did was move the mess somewhere else.
