With the finishing touches of ZooLights going up right now, the Phoenix Zoo just added in the final element – the Wildlife Lantern Safari!
The Wildlife Lantern Safari is a collection of 60 hand-crafted animal sculptures created with metal frames and wrapped in a silk-like fabric. Each piece is decorated with hand-drawn details and illuminated from within. Guests at ZooLights: Glow Wild can see a village of monkeys glow as high as 18 feet, and a gorgeous herd of zebras span the desert. Not to mention a stunning, colorful chameleon, a “mob” of meerkats, African elephants, hippos, a pride of lions and everything in between!
But – here's the best part - these lanterns are not only beautiful in the evening (as you can see at ZooLights: Glow Wild when it kicks off Wednesday, November 27 at 5:30 p.m.), but they are equally as stunning in the daytime!
The lanterns are scattered along the Africa Trail from the left of the Zoo’s Savanna habitat past lion, past rhino and extends all the way to camels. The lanterns can be seen with general Zoo admission and they offer many amazing photo opportunities.
Current Zoo hours are 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Phoenix Zoo members get early entry at 8 a.m.) Get more info and tickets HERE!
