Join in a monumental celebration at the South Mountain Environmental Education Center’s (SMEEC) Apollo 11 event. This event is only $5 and is open to all ages. (SMEEC is the Phoenix Zoo’s sister-facility, located at 10409 S. Central Ave, Phoenix.) More info HERE
SMEEC is the optimal location for star gazing; the positioning of the mountain and buildings block ambient city lights, yet still allow unobstructed viewing of the ecliptic – our window into the Milky Way. In 2018, SMEEC took astronomy programming into deep space with the optical deep space imaging system (OSDI). Guests to the Apollo 11 event this weekend will get to see and gaze through this amazing piece of equipment.
