The Grand Canyon Throws Star Parties For 100th Anniversary As Natl Park

The Grand Canyon became a National Park in February of 1919. Centennial events continue all year long. And today (6/18/19) the Grand Canyon was given it's International Dark-Sky Certification. It's been a long process to get there. But there will be a special ceremony to mark the designation on Saturday morning at the South Rim. This kicks off a week of night-time activities at both the South and North Rims: Star Parties! Amateur astronomers from all over the world show up for this with their own telescopes. They'll let you look! Plus each night there are experts presenting programs, and it's all free! You'll have to make plans for your own lodging tho, and you'll need reservations.
