'Rocketman' Star Sings On Stage With Elton John

Elton John was joined by Rocketman actor Taron Egerton during his open-air concert in Hove, England on Sunday night (June 9th) to perform Elton's 1970 breakthrough hit, "Your Song." Rolling Stone reported Rocketman, which was released on May 31st, has now surpassed the $100 million mark at the U.S. box office.

Following the concert, Elton posted on Twitter, "Taron Egerton, thank you for joining me onstage tonight. We’ve shared so many moments during the filming and release of Rocketman and singing ‘Your Song' with you this evening is another I’ll always cherish."

Elton John admitted he's still amazed at how perfectly Taron Egerton was able to capture the essence of his life and music: "When I first heard him sing 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me' I was flabbergasted. I went, 'God, this is so difficult to sing -- this is just as good as my version, really.' There are some very, very, dark moments in the movie, but the music lifts it out of the darkness. Not only did he have to perform my life; he had to sing my life. And when I look at him singing and when I look at him acting, I am not looking at Taron Egerton -- I'm looking at me."

Elton John will perform on Wednesday (June 12th) in Dublin, Ireland.

He'll be back on this side of the pond starting on September 4th, when his "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour hits Salt Lake City's Vivint Smart Home Arena.
