Ed Sheeran has duetted with Elton John and The Rolling Stones. Now, he teamed up with another veteran performer: “American Pie” singer/songwriter Don McLean.
It happened at the Backyard Concert 2018, a charity show that raised funds for UCLA Health and Teen Cancer America. Held last Friday in Pacific Palisades, California, the event also featured rock legends Van Morrison – one of Ed’s idols – and Roger Daltrey, lead vocalist of The Who. During the event, Ed teamed up with McLean to perform Don’s classic hit “Vincent.”
McLean posted video of the two rehearsing the song, and wrote, “Ed & I rehearsing Vincent for the big show! Ed is a quick study...turned out great.”
In addition to the musical performances, there also was an auction of rare music memorabilia and art, presided over by Howie Mandel. Friday’s concert and auction raised over $3.5 million for the charities.
