As you probably know, 99.9 KEZ has enjoyed a long relationship with the Phoenix Zoo, even providing the new name for our baby giraffe (Rafiki=Friend). Now the Zoo Has proudly announced that the longest-running children's television show in Valley history will be memorialized there with a very special bench.
“Although other locations were considered, the Phoenix Zoo best represented the spirit of the show,” said Rita Davenport, former KPHO host and president of the Wallace and Ladmo Foundation. “It’s a multi-generational gathering place that showcases kids and animals – near and dear to us all. In the end, this was the only place that felt exactly right.”
“We are thrilled to have this symbol of Arizona history right here at the Phoenix Zoo,” says President and CEO of the Arizona Center for Nature Conservation (ACNC)/Phoenix Zoo. “The sculpture will be displayed near the Zoo’s main lake, offering a perfect location for guests and fans of the show to reminisce about the iconic characters in a beautiful and unique setting.”
