Jean Xavier de Lestrade has created a Peabody Award-winning docuseries called The Staircase. It documents Michael Peterson’s arrest, legal battle and eventual conviction for the murder of wife, and then the series of events that led to a new trial and yet another conviction for manslaughter. (He maintains his innocence). Three new episodes of The Staircase will appear on Netflix, along with the original portions of the docuseries, on June 8th.
