Prince's legendary '80s band the Revolution has just announced 19 North American dates between June and late-October, along with the group's first European dates since 1986. The new touring version of the Revolution features classic members Wendy Melvoin on guitar, Lisa Coleman on keyboards, Brown Mark on bass, Bobby Z on drums, and Dr. Fink on keyboards. In the press release for the dates, Wendy Melvoin explained, "I think everybody in the Revolution is singular, not like anybody else. So while we still have a shot at getting that same feeling, let's do it with as much grace and integrity as we can. We're still a band, still vital human beings, so let's play this stuff before we can't anymore."
Wendy Melvoin, the Revolution's guitarist from 1983 to 1986, told us upon reforming the Revolution that make no mistake -- "playing Prince's music without him is a heartbreaking situation every time out."
