Coast Guard Names Safest Pool Device For Kids

Learning to swim is a fun experience, but it can also be dangerous. Now the U.S. Coast Guard says there's one flotation device safest for kids learning to swim to use. It's called a puddle jumper. Jim Spiers, the founder of SwimJim, explains, "Puddle jumpers are the best option as far as flotation devices go because unlike arm floaties, kids can't get them off. [They're also] Coast Guard-approved." He added that when you're teaching your children to swim, they shouldn't be using a flotation device the entire time, but rather about 50 percent of the time. In case you're unfamiliar, a puddle jumper is a flotation device that has a floating apparatus that is buckled around the child's middle, and attached to it are two 'arm floaters' for the child to put his or her arms through.  (Pop Sugar)
