A New Jersey dentist will give kids $5 in exchange for the candy they get trick-or-treating on Halloween as a way to promote dental hygiene. Dr. Robin Lucas of Hoboken started doing the "Candy Buy-Back" two years ago after expanding her practice to also treat children, but while it had been just for her patients, this year she's opening it up to the local community. In addition to the $5, kids also get a toothbrush and toothpaste in a goodie bag when they turn in their candy. The practice donates the candy they take in to different branches of the military. Lucas is so serious about sugar in candy being bad for kids' teeth that she told ABC News that after her own kids come back from trick-or-treating, she makes them throw out the candy. $5??? Who's gonna give up all that great candy for 5 bucks??
