Avril Lavigne and Ashley Tisdale have a new song together, and Demi Lovato produced the track. The track, titled “Trophy Boy,” features three pop princesses – and is the subject of the song is Prince Charming himself.
“Trophy Boy” is part of the soundtrack for a new animated film called Charming, which will tell Prince Charming’s origin story through a retelling of the classic Cinderella story from his point of view. Avril, Ashley, and Demi all voice characters in the film. Wilmer Valderrama will voice Prince Charming.
The trailer shows three princesses getting ready for their weddings, with Lenore (Demi) telling Snow White (Avril), Cinderella (Ashley), and Sleeping Beauty (Chinese pop star G.E.M.) that they’re all clearly engaged to marry the same guy. From there, “Trophy Boy” unfolds into a musical tribute to why each princess wants to marry Prince Charming. The soundtrack also features music from Sia.
Lavigne recently posted a photo on social media that revived an old conspiracy theory that states that Lavigne died in 2003, and a look-alike – or clone – named Melissa has been living in her place since then. The theory claims Lavigne, struggling with fame at the beginning of her career, began using a body double named Melissa. At some point, the real Lavigne is said to have died, so the record company replaced her with Melissa full-time. “Proof” has included Lavigne’s red carpet shots (Lavigne wears trousers; Melissa prefers dresses and skirts) and supposed differences between the facial features of pre-2003 Lavigne and the current incarnation. Theorists also believe Melissa has left clues in songs, such as “Slipped Away,” in which she sings: “The day you slipped away was the day I found it won’t be the same.”
