A company that sells children's footwear was blasted on popular Facebook parenting page Let Clothes Be Clothes for selling high heels for babies. Parents posting on the site charged that the soft heels from Pee Wee Pumps sexualize the babies, with one writing, "Sorry but this is sick! Children should be allowed to be children, not dressed up to look like hookers." But Pee Wee Pumps creator Michele Holbrook took it in stride, saying the baby pumps get criticized all the time. She told Footwear News, "They look at it like you're sexualizing babies. That's their opinion if they want to take it, but they are intended as a photo prop, and mothers want to use it as a fashion accessory. . . . It's like putting a baby into a cute romper or tutu." She added that the baby shoes aren't intended for walking, and therefore only go up in sizing to six months, around when babies start to crawl.
