The statistics are staggering – every 98 seconds an American is sexually
assaulted. Men, women and children are all affected by sexual violence
and unfortunately, sexual violence is more prevalent on colleges compared
to other crimes. Eleven percent of all college students experience rape
or sexual assault. In addition to preventing these terrible crimes, helping
a victim recover is critical. Seeking therapy can be very helpful for a sexual
assault victim. Arizona’s Children Association (AzCA), the state’s largest
and oldest behavioral health agency provides FREE therapy for victims
of crime.
I spoke with Heather Ford, clinical supervisor of the trauma specialization
team from Arizona's Children Association, about the program
