Memorial Day weekend is almost here, which means many will be kicking off their summer vacations, with lots of families loading up the car for a family road trip. But it turns out having the whole family in the car can be a hassle, especially when everyone thinks they are an expert behind the wheel.
A new survey finds:
- 73% of Americans say at least one member of their family is a “backseat driver.”
- 30% of Americans identify their teen as the biggest backseat driver in the family.
- 23% say it’s their spouse or partner.
- And backseat driving can get super annoying to the person behind the wheel.
- Among the most annoying backseat driving behavior:
- Giving unsolicited advice on when you should turn (49%)
- Complaining that you're driving too slowly (37%)
- White-knuckling the dashboard (36%)
- Complaining that you're driving too fast (31%)
- Yelling "watch out!" at the sight of pedestrians / animals on the road (26%)
