TikTokers Call Out Man’s Cruel Proposal Prank

When you’ve been in a relationship for a long time and you’re hoping to get engaged, knowing that big moment is about to happen can be overwhelming. That’s what a woman namedHannahwas expecting on Christmas morning as her boyfriend got down on one knee and began telling her, “I love you so much, we’ve been together six years…” She posted the emotional scene in a now-viralTikTok video, but what happened next was not what viewers were expecting to see.

The video shows Hannah turning away from the camera, as tears stream down her cheeks, and her boyfriend pulls out a small jewelry box. He then continues what we all expect will be a proposal, but says, “Will you take these earrings?” and opens the box to reveal a pair of earrings. While Hannah seems to take the joke really well, by laughing and calmly saying, “I knew it,” the 1.3-million viewers on TikTok didn’t see it as funny.

Users of the app expressed outrage over this “cruel trick” this guy played on his girlfriend. Many people slammed him for the prank, with some calling it “just mean” and others going as far as saying it was “heartbreaking.” Several advised her to break up with him and someone else commented, “Throw the whole boy away please.”

  • In response to the disapproval, Hannah posted an update to let us know that her boyfriend has since proposed for real and they’re happily engaged. She shares that she’s “kind of taken back by how many people really hate my fiancé,” adding that “he’s not a bad person” and that they always play jokes on each other.
