The Phoenix Zoo recently welcomed a female baby Masai giraffe on Tuesday, June 26. She is being extremely well cared for by her very protective mother, Imara! Imara and the baby will remain in the giraffe barn until the calf is old enough to be introduced to other animals and go out on the Savanna. In the meantime, we need your help choosing a name!
Imara means “strength” in Swahili, and our giraffe/hoofstock team came up with six Swahili-themed names for her baby
