Almost half the nation is expecting rainy or wintery weather this week and into the next. The National Weather Service says a pair of storm systems will bring rain and snow, with one starting in Northern California bringing at least a foot of snow to some parts of the Sierra Nevadas. It'll move south, bringing winter weather to Southern California and snow to parts of Arizona and Colorado.
Snow is expected today in Kansas moving into Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, and Illinois. That system is eventually predicted to head into Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts and Rhode Island later in the week.
From the Mid-Atlantic through the Southeast, rain is expected .
