'Orange Is The New Black' Actress Danielle Brooks Welcomes First Child

USTA 19th Annual Opening Night Gala Blue Carpet

Danielle Brooks is a mom!

The Orange Is the New Black actress welcomed her first child, a baby girl, this week. Brooks took to Instagram on Monday (November 18) to announce she’d given birth to her daughter, who looks so cute in her very first photo. “11.16.19. She’s perfect,” the 30-year-old captioned a black-and-white picture of her newborn sleeping on her chest. Brooks has yet to reveal the name of her child.

The star, who portrayed Tasha “Tastyee” Jefferson on the Netflix series, revealed the news of her pregnancy over the summer in a social media sponsorship with Clearblue. “So elated to finally share this news with you all. I’m happily pregnant,” she shared back on July 2 along with an image of her holding her pregnancy test. Brooks first showed off her growing baby bump in an Instagram Story in which said she was five months along at the time.

The new mom celebrates the arrival of her daughter just months after her long-running role on OITNB came to an end with its seventh and final season, which aired on July 26 on Netflix. Weeks before the finale, Brooks talked with PEOPLE about how she intends to raise her bundle of joy.

“I’m excited to teach her how to be a woman in this world without worrying about judgment and give her the freedom to be the person that she wants to be,” she told the publication. “Then getting to see that person come to life and grow and change their opinions. I’m excited to see this little human!”

Congratulations, Danielle!
