The NFL is celebrating its 100th anniversary this season, so NBC came up with something big for this season's "Sunday Night Football" opener.
Which is why the show will open with this season with the original song, "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night," sung by Carrie Underwood, but she will be accompanied by Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Joan Jett. Jett's band, the Blackhearts, will perform on the studio tracks.
Which is fitting why???
Exactly…because the song is actually Jett’s hit "I Hate Myself for Loving You."
"Waiting All Day for Sunday Night" was adapted from Jett's 1988 hit
A preview of the new opener will air during Sunday's preseason game between Pittsburgh and Tennessee.
