No, Bruno Mars Is Not Playing Prince In Upcoming Netflix Film

Contrary to blogosphere reports, Bruno Mars will not portray Prince in a new biopic, which was reportedly lined up to air on Netflix.

On Tuesday (September 11), a representative for the pop titan told the Associated Press that the report was "100 percent false." Netflix backed the debunking in a follow-up statement, admitting that there's not even any film in development. Mars' rep echoed the sentiments in an e-mail to iHeartRadio, calling the initial story "a total fabrication." Word of Mars' gig originated when The Daily Mirror, a British tabloid, published a story over the weekend that reported Mars was "being lined up to play Prince."

On the other hand, you will be able to catch Bruno on his current "24K Magic Tour," which kicked off last Friday in Denver, Colorado. While Cardi B is no longer attached to the tour, Mars tried to make up for her absence by recruiting Charlie Wilson, Ella Mai, Ciara and Boyz II Men as openers for the trek. The North American leg of the tour will continue strong through the fall, before wrapping in Honolulu, Hawaii with three dates on November 8, 10 and 11. Click here for a full list of show dates!
