Jimmy Kimmel got personal on last night's episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" when he spoke about his newborn son.
Kimmel said his son, Billy, started to turn purple about three hours after he was born. A nurse at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center noticed and was able to get emergency care for the baby. They found out that be was born with a heart defect and rushed him to the Children's Hospital Los Angeles for emergency heart surgery.
The normally hard-crusted Kimmel teared up as he spoke about the situation in a long monologue. After thanking a long list of doctors and nurses both at Cedars and Children's, he made a plea to politicians on both sides of the aisle to make sure Americans have access to health care - especially those with pre-existing conditions. After all, his son will now fall into that category. The way he sees it, 'If your baby is going to die, it shouldn't matter how much money you make."
