While a lot of people love being out with others, there are plenty of folks who either don’t enjoy other people, or don’t have enough friends and family to keep them social. There are certainly plenty of these lonely people in the world but a new report reveals the states with the most of them.

  • It’s based on data from Aging In Place, which looked at factors like the number of people living alone, divorced or widowed, plus those using apps to find a relationship, although not necessarily a romantic one.
  • Topping the list as the loneliest state is Maine, which scored a 7.6 out of 10.
  • Maine, which has a pretty small population, has the highest rate of divorce (14%), plus over 3,000 people per 10,000 are looking for relationships.
