The number of people surrendering their potbelly pigs in the Phoenix area is on the rise and a local nonprofit organization is in desperate need of donations because of this alarming trend. Better Piggies Rescue is seeing an average of 25 new surrender pigs every two weeks! Many people purchase ‘teacup pigs’ thinking they will stay small, but ‘teacup pigs’ don’t exist. They're really potbelly pigs that can end up reaching hundreds of pounds. When this happens, the owners simply give them up or abandon the animals.
