Thanks to advancements in technology it’s easier than ever to work remotely, but apparently not that many offices are open to the idea.
A new poll finds:
- Only 47% of employees say their company gives them the option to work off-site.
- On a more positive note, 56% of employees say that in the past three years their companies have expanded the opportunities to work remotely.
- Of those who do have the option, 70% take advantage of it and work from home, while 6% work from a café or shared office space.
- The 24% who don’t take advantage of it, have a variety of reasons not to, including:
- Not having the right technology (39%)
- They’re less productive due to distractions (38%)
- As for where companies are more likely to offer remote work options, San Diego, Chicago and Austin have the most of the 28 cities in the survey.
- What’s more, those in Chicago,Phoenix and San Diego say they are most likely to work from home if they can.
- About 74% of working parents will opt to work from home if offered, as will 64% of those without children.
- Interestingly, more men work from home than women (77% vs. 64%)
