Barguments! MercBar

John Anagnopoulos and Gavin Pena from MercBar came in this morning for Barguments! After 23 years of creating and defining cocktail culture in Phoenix, MercBar—bar & lounge is once again leading the charge, by redefining, refining and re-launching after completing a full renovation at its time tested Phoenix location at The Esplanade.

● The original MercBar was opened on Mercer Street in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City by Phoenix native, nightlife impresario and veteran restaurateur John McDonald of Mercer Street Hospitality and he expanded the concept to Phoenix’s Camelback Corridor in 1996 with partner Rick Phillips.

● The approachable cocktail menu ranging from $10 to $20 at MercBar respects the classics, from an Old Fashioned to a Tom Collins, a Black Manhattan and now also boasts quite a tequila and mezcal list for the ever-growing agave lovers.

● The quality of cocktails matches the caliber of the curated list of spirits including a selection of fine single malts, bourbon, whiskey, tequila, and mezcal.

● While keeping its charm and wit, the 3,000 square-foot space has been glammed-up. Luxurious fabrics, materials and surfaces, create a seductive lounge, with a warmly glowing buzzy bar serving classic cocktails as well as a 700-square-foot private event space nicknamed the Copper Room, newly outfitted with antique black steel and glass hope doors and curtains for full privacy. AV capabilities for meetings, promo events and more were also added to the private room.
