The 1978 Pontiac Trans Am from the Smokey and the Bandit movie starring Burt Reynolds is now up for auction. Somehow, it was in the possession of some guys who were busted for fraud. So now, the U.S. government is selling off this important piece of Americana.
The U.S. Marshals auction will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Apple Towing in Woodland, California, with pre-bidding currently under way and already topping $65,000 by late Tuesday. The auction company said it had been driven less than 3,400 miles.
