Weekend Freeway Travel Advisory (March 7-10):
Several I-17 ramps to Loop 101 closed in north Phoenix
PHOENIX — Drivers are asked to plan ahead for a few freeway closures or lane restrictions in the Phoenix area this weekend (March 7-10). The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends travelers allow extra time and consider alternate routes while the following restrictions are in place:
· Southbound Interstate 17 ramps to east- and westbound Loop 101 in north Phoenix closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (March 10) for pavement repairs. Northbound I-17 ramp to westbound Loop 101 also closed. Southbound I-17 on-ramp at Deer Valley Road closed. DETOUR: Please plan ahead and use nearby I-17 exits and local streets, including Deer Valley Road, Union Hills Drive, 19th and 35th avenues, to connect with Loop 101.
· Loop 303 and Cotton Lane closed in both directions between McDowell and Indian School roads in Goodyear from 4 a.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday (March 9) for work at the future Loop 303/I-10 traffic interchange. McDowell Road also closed between Sarival Avenue and Citrus Road to allow crews to complete and open new lanes. DETOUR: Please be prepared to use alternate routes, including Citrus Road for north-south travel and Van Buren Street or Indian School Road for east-west travel.
· Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) narrowed to one lane in both directions overnight between Camelback Road and Northern Avenue in Glendale from 10 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday (March 8) for work on the future HOV-lane ramps at Maryland Avenue. DETOUR: Please use caution and be prepared to slow down and merge safely in work zones.
