More dogs go missing on the Fourth of July than any other holiday.... why? They're scared out of their minds from the explosions and bright flashes. Safety tips as a reminder from Yahoo

  1. Keep updated tags on all animals. Microchipping is also important

  2. Get a tag that also includes your pet sitter's name if you're going away

  3. Close the shades and curtains to muffle the explosions and conceal the flashes

  4. Grab a toy that will distract your pet, like something filled with peanut butter. That'll keep him busy.

  5. If possible, stay home with your dog or cat.
