How Americans Feel About Learning, And Teaching Someone, To Drive

A new TrueCar survey finds 35% of people say they have taught someone to drive

Of those people, 90% would describe giving driving lessons as a harrowing experience

67% of teachers say it was scarier to teach someone to drive than to learn to drive themselves

The typical driving lesson consists of five yells of “brake,” four reaches for steering wheel by the teacher and six reaches for a non-existent brake by the instructor’s feet

As for who are most likely to do the teaching, they include:

Father (46%)

Friend (32%)

Sibling (23%)

Hired driving instructor (22%)

Mother (22%)
