If you're hunting for Easter eggs this weekend, watch out for snakes

The Easter Hunter

Easter eggs are not the only things hidden in bushes. Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary is reminding people to be aware of snakes this Easter.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind while hiding those coveted Easter treasures:

  • Hide eggs where children will be able to see where they are reaching. Try to avoid hiding eggs in bushes, rocks, behind flower pots or under pool toys.
  • Snakes love shady damp areas during the day -- don't we all -- try to keep eggs out of areas like under plants with drip systems
  • Hide eggs off the ground like tall flower pots or hanging baskets and on decks or outdoor furniture.
  • If you come across a snake, walk away and DO NOT try to move it yourself.
